Happy Monday! It was a wonderful start to the day with devotions with Pastor Mari. They sang "We Three Kings of Orient Are" and "Go Tell It on the Mountain" and Mari gave a message about the Three Wise Men. We ended with saying our loud "Amen" together which woke us all up a bit more! After that, we all enjoyed some funny New Year's jokes, stories, poems, and resolutions. We stretched and flexed our bodies for a little bit before watching adorable YouTube videos of babies opening their Christmas presents. It was a great afternoon playing bingo and singing old-time songs together like, "Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree" and "It'a a Long Way to Tipperary." Have a happy New Year!
Happy Friday! Our day began with a visit from a mom and her three children. We got to hear the six year old little girl play carols on the piano and they passed out cards that they made. The kids looked adorable all dressed up for Christmas and the baby was even in a santa outfit. The residents loved seeing them! The residents all received their gifts after that! It's always so fun opening presents! The Bloomingtones were here singing for us this afternoon. What wonderful music that was! Everyone loved listening to them! James also came in to play the piano music for us. It was a great day!
What a busy and eventful few days! On Saturday, we had a piano recital with eighteen students. Everyone enjoyed listening to lots of Christmas songs! On Sunday, a girl scouts came in to visit, decorate cookies, and sing carols to us! It was a fantastic time! Monday morning was our big event with the McGuire Middle School jazz band and choir. It was so fun hearing the band play and the choir sing and dance to some favorite Christmas songs! Enjoy the photos!
Happy Friday! It was a great day that began with the Primrose School preschoolers and kindergarteners caroling! We all enjoyed treats together after! Everyone loved listening to their very joyful and enthusiastic singing! The December birthday party was this afternoon with a wonderful piano player performance. The performer threw in some funny stories that we had a good laugh to! We also enjoyed singing lots of carols and learning some fun facts and trivia about Christmas today!
Happy Thursday! Our day started with "The Christmas Vault" book and we learned about St. Nicholas and the history of stockings. We also sang carols together and exercised and enjoyed a few holiday jokes. This afternoon, we played "The Twelve Days of Christmas" bingo and also later Christmas music bingo with Jennifer from Music Safari! It was a great day filled with lots of fun!
Happy Tuesday! We started the day off with singing Christmas carols and reading from a book, "The Christmas Vault" where we learned about where Christmas trees and carols came from and who had the first Christmas tree. We also got in some stretches and flexes this morning and ended with YouTube videos of children's dance recitals. This afternoon, we all enjoyed fun trivia about Christmas before Jim Roth came in to play music on his accordion for us. We loved hearing him play all the wonderful Christmas songs while we sang along and danced! It was a great time!
Happy Friday! We started the day with a nice Christmas story from Good Old Days magazine. Then we also got in a little bit of exercise by doing some stretches before a finish the Christmas songs and sayings games. We ended the morning with some Christmas songs including, "Jingle Bell Rock," "Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer," and "O Lutefisk O Lutefisk," which gave us all a good laugh! This afternoon, we learned all about different Christmas traditions around the world. It was fascinating. After, James came in to play the piano for us and we sang more carols! It was a great day!
Happy Thursday! It was a wonderful morning that began with reminiscing about Christmas and reading a story from Reminisce magazine. Then we went to hear The Classic Voices of Lakeville sing carols and other fun Christmas songs, about lutefisk and ugly sweaters! It was so great! This afternoon, we watercolor painted some sheets of Christmas trees, candy canes, and ornaments. Jennifer came in to play Christmas songs on the piano for us and we all sang along.
