Happy Tuesday! It was nice morning. We started with the weather report and weekly news. Then we exercised our bodies and minds with the what's next game of finish the sayings and rhymes and then did a few stretches to get moving a little bit. We even had a blast dancing the chicken dance and later watching polka and swing dancing videos and moving along with that. It was a good time had by all! This afternoon, we enjoyed winter crafts...painting wooden snowmen and creating a paper winter scene. After that, we had a sing along of many old-time songs like "Meet Me in St. Louis," "Shine on Harvest Moon," and "Hail, Hail, the Gang's All Here." It was a great day!
Happy Monday! We began our day by singing a few hymns including "Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art." Next, we enjoyed a few stories of children's prayers which were actually funny. One of them that residents laughed at was from a four year-old..."And forgive us our trash baskets as we forgive those who put trash in our baskets." Stretches and flexes were next. It felt good to get our bodies moving. We ended the morning with a few videos of babies laughing which gave us all big smiles. That's the best! This afternoon, we played a finish the sayings and finish the lyrics game. We sang different songs like "Daisy Bell" and "Jesus Loves Me." Residents watched a couple dances on YouTube. One resident showed us her dance moves as well! We also enjoyed a few stories from the Reminisce magazine including embarrassing moments and also wedding stories. It was a great day!
Happy SNOW DAY! The fresh snow that we got last night and continued to fall all day was the talk of the day. So many beautiful and funny stories all about snow and remembering them just as if they picked in from a shelf. We heard a story from a resident about her ice fishing with her dad, building snowmen, snowball fights... it was a gift to be here to listen. Our first adventure of the day was stretch and flex exercises to Glen Miller. We also listened to quite a bit of Johnny Cash, by request. We painted snowmen and reminisced again and again. It was a great day! Stay warm!
Happy Friday! We started our morning by singing a few songs like "Que Sera Sera" and "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands." Then we did a few stretches to get our bodies moving and enjoyed a few stories of kids which gave us a good morning laugh! We ended the morning with fun trivia. We learned that this week was the discovery of the Hawaiian islands so we watched a few travel videos of Maui, Honolulu, and Kauai. Our afternoon was busy with singing more songs like "Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree" and "Give My Regards to Broadway." We also reminisced all about winter. We ended the day by watching a few dancing videos! It was a very nice day!
Happy Thursday! We started our day off with a sing along of old-time songs. Then we exercised by doing a few stretches. Some word games of finish the proverbs, poetry, and songs was next. We enjoyed singing a few more songs while we were at it. Before lunch, we watched Johnny Carson videos of him with animals. This afternoon, we played a game with different topics like finishing lines of words of wisdom and giving answers to show business among others. We also enjoyed hearing some humorous true stories from Reminisce magazine and stories of funny things kids said. Music Safari was after that. We had a fun time singing many songs together! It was a great day!
Happy Wednesday! Our morning was spent in song and prayer. We had a lovely service right in the Willows today. The hymns we sang were, "Great is Thy Faithfulness", "How Great Thou Art" and "For The Beauty of the Earth". Before lunch we had just enough time for some fun Hawaiian music and we all pretended we were in Hawaii, away from this cold and snow outside! This afternoon was also filled with music- this time a sing a long to some classic favorites and some stories about winter fun. It was a great day.
Tuesday was filled with music! Our day began with the morning report: local happy news and the weather. Then followed up with light exercises and stretches. Before lunch we cheered up with some funny animal videos. The residents absolutely love these and best part are the true belly laughs from seeing a puppy doing something silly. Our afternoon highlight was our favorite entertainer, Jim Roth! He memorized us with his amazing accordion music. Happy day to you!
Saturday morning, a small group enjoyed working on a puzzle together while another group listened to a variety of music including old-time and songs from classic musicals. We enjoyed some word games of finish the sayings and a little exercise in the afternoon. We also started watching the Vikings game before dinner. It was a good time Sunday playing games like Read My List and trivia games. We also had a fun time listening to 50's music while we tossed the beach ball to each other. We ended the day with a good laugh to "cold" jokes like "It's so cold, a group of chickens walked into a KFC asking to warm up." It was a nice weekend!
It was a wonderful winter Friday! Our morning was spent reminiscing about our favorite winter activities... they ranged from ice skating to making mulled wine! Exercise was fun when done to big band music with your friends to hoot and holler every once and a while! Lunch was an open faced roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy and fresh corn! After lunch we crafted all sorts of fun winter scenes with snow flakes and snowmen. We even created a snow"woman" on a beach with a purple bikini, sitting under a palm tree drinking a martini! We all laughed like teenagers! It was a lot of fun!
Happy Thursday! We began our day with exercises. First we stretched our bodies before a fun game of beach ball toss. It felt good to get moving! After that was finish the lyrics game. We also sang some of the songs together like "My Bonnie," "I've Been Working on the Railroad," and "Jesus Loves Me." We ended the morning with The Carol Burnett Show, dentist skit. That gave us all a good laugh for sure! This afternoon, we all enjoyed a sweet treat while we watched a few scenes from classic musicals. Music Safari was also today. Residents had a great time playing instruments (drums and shakers), using the parachute, and singing along to songs like "I Love You Truly" while Maddie played the piano. It was a wonderful day!
