It was a great day that started with a volunteer playing old-time songs, like Elvis Presley, on the guitar for us! Then we enjoyed some funny stories of conversations between teachers and students. Next, we did a finish the line game before a little exercise with our morning stretches. We ended the morning with travel videos to the Grand Canyon. This afternoon, we played a game where we had to guess the real invention from a group. A couple inventions were the duck beak dog muzzle and motion-activated light up toilet which made the residents laugh! After that, was trivia all about February and then we sang songs together.
Happy Wednesday! Our day began with a lovely Worship Service in the Hosanna chapel led by Pastor George and our own Chaplin Mari. Next, our Catholic residents gathered in our Fountains chapel for Rosary and holy communion with Deacon Jim. It was quite a busy morning. After lunch we had the best time with our Kindergarten friends from Primrose school. We all created a craft by tracing our hands on paper then making it into a tree. Oh my- their energy and creativity is a wonder to behold. We all enjoyed it, but boy were we all tried afterwards! On resident stated, "WOW, I can't believe they have that much energy, I had so much fun but I need a nap!". After our Kindergarten friends left we all did rest with some soothing music. THen we picked it up a bit with a sing a long to round out our day.
What a wonderful Tuesday! Our day began with the local happy news and weather report. Then some classic poetry trivia and finish the stanza, boy they knocked my socks off! Next we all stretched and flexed to move our bodies. A resident also exclaimed, "it feels so wonderful to stretch"- I agree. After our delicious ham salad sandwiches we took a rest and I did some one on ones. Next it was our Popcorn Party and we watched some classic movie clips from Gone with the Wind and Casablanca. Our favorite Polka guy, Jim Roth was here in the afternoon to get our hands clapping with his great accordion music.
Happy Monday! Our day here in The Willows began with devotions with Pastor Mari. We enjoyed singing "Savior, Like a Shepherd Lead Us," "'Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus," and "Jesus Loves Me." She also gave them a beautiful keepsake of pictures with Psalm 23 scripture. After devotions, we did some trivia, like about ice cream. Then we finished up the morning with cute videos of babies and kids. This afternoon, we had a great time playing bingo together! We also learned a bit about Brothers Grimm and did a game of name the tale and after sang several songs together.
Happy Saturday! Our day started with lots of smiles and laughter to jokes and funny true stories from Reader's Digest. Then we had a good time with our game of finish the sayings, proverbs, phrases. It was a fun afternoon playing lots of bingo games together, watching funny YouTube videos of dogs, and singing many songs, like "I've Been Working on the Railroad," "Oh Susanna," and "Home, Home on the Range." We all love our music here!
Happy Friday! Today we started with stretches and flexes to get our bodies moving to begin the day! Then we did some fun trivia about different events that happened this week. Also, since it was the anniversary of "Miracle of Ice," we learned about that and watched the exciting end to the game! After that, we watched cute and funny videos of babies. They all gave us big smiles! The February birthday party was this afternoon! We enjoyed listening to a fantastic piano player/singer and eating the tasty cake made it even better! After that, we had a good time singing along with Susie Q on YouTube. It was a great day!
Our day here in The Willows started with funny jokes all about the cold and then the what's next game. Everyone did great finishing all the phrases and movie/TV titles. After that we stretched a little before playing a fun balloon toss game. We ended the morning with humorous videos of dogs. This afternoon we all played bingo! It was a great time, especially those that won the chocolate. Music Safari ended our day. They played drums to music first and then played jeopardy. It was a good time had by all!
We started our day off with funny stories and jokes that gave us all a good laugh. Then we had a good time with word games of finish the nursery rhymes, phrases and quotes, and songs. We enjoyed singing several songs together. Next we stretched and flexed our bodies and danced the macarena! Everyone had a great time dancing and then reminiscing about different dances like polka and swing dancing. It was our ladies tea this afternoon! We had such a wonderful time together visiting, drinking tea and eating snickerdoodle cookies. Lastly today, we had a nice time singing old-time songs and watching scenes from musicals like Anchors Aweigh. It was a wonderful day!
It was a very nice start to our Monday with devotions with Pastor Mari. We sang "Fairest Lord Jesus" and "Jesus Loves Me." Mari's message to us all was about "Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds." After devotions, we learned about code names of some presidents which was interesting. Then we did a few stretches for our exercise this morning. Before lunch, we watched YouTube videos of little kids saying all the presidents names (that was amazing!) and a funny little boy imitating different presidents. We also watched videos of babies laughing and playing together. Those giggles are the best! This afternoon, a big group played several games of bingo together. It was a fun time had by all! Then we all had a good time singing some songs together and spent some time with fun trivia about presidents. It was a great day!
Happy Friday! We began our day with fun and interesting trivia about animals and people. After that, we did some stretches before an exciting game of beach ball toss. We ended the morning with travel videos to Florida and wished we were at the beach and enjoying warm weather! This afternoon we did a fill-in-the-blank game of fairy tales, folktales, and fables among other finish the phrases. James also came in to play piano music for us. We had a fantastic time listening to him play and dancing along to some of his more upbeat songs! Then we continued with more music by singing several songs together like, "Chattanooga Choo Choo" and "Somewhere Over the Rainbow." It was a wonderful day!
