Happy Sunday! We started our day by singing hymns together including, "It is Well With My Soul," "I Love to Tell the Story," "For the Beauty of the Earth," among many others. After that, we exercised and danced to 50s music with the ribbons. What fun and good to get moving! We ended the morning with funny YouTube videos of kids. This afternoon, we were busy with different words games...finish the sayings, titles, and songs and and coming up with things related to letters. We also had a sing along with patriotic songs. It was a great day!

Happy Friday! It was a lovely morning spent outside on the patio. We began with finish the song lyrics and sang many songs together. Then we talked about traveling with fun "off the beaten path" and "country connections" trivia. We also enjoyed hearing humorous travel signs around the world and flight announcements. Residents shared their own stories about favorite places they've traveled. The June birthday party was today! There was a piano player and singer that came to perform. Everyone enjoyed listening to the music and even dancing a little! Of course we also enjoyed the tasty cake to end the party!
Happy Thursday! We started the day with a sing along of different songs from movie musicals like "The Sound of Music," "Mary Poppins," and "Singing in the Rain." What wonderful music! Then we all enjoyed a few stories and lines about kids saying humorous things. One of them that gave a good laugh was, "Glen, why do you always get so dirty? Well, I'm a lot closer to the ground than you are." After that, we exercised a little bit by doing stretches to polka music and then did a little trivia about different types of socials. We ended the morning with travel videos to San Francisco and San Diego, California. It was our ice cream social this afternoon! Everyone enjoyed delicious vanilla ice cream and strawberry angel food cake. Lastly, was Music Safari. Residents had a wonderful time listening to music, playing instruments, and singing!
Happy Wednesday! We had a wonderful morning gathered in the Hosanna Chapel for Worship Services. We had a great guest pastor, David Garcia, who shared with us a very inspiring, motivating and personal family message. Next, our Catholic residents gathered in the Fountains chapel for Rosary. We had just enough time for the daily report, which included Paul Douglas' weather report and some great stories from the paper. One story was about a cat that was rescued from the washing machine and another about the 20 inch fish that was caught from a paddle board on a local lake. Lunch today was a Greek panzanella salad with fresh cantaloupe and an ice cream sandwich for dessert. After a rest break we all gathered outside in the garden to check our plants and sure enough, we have 2 ripe tomatoes! We all cheered and with the heat this weekend, we will surly get a few more that ripen up and enjoy the taste of a fresh picked tomato! We all enjoyed some fresh popped popcorn and a video of a vintage car show parade in a small town in Minnesota. Next, it was Musical Moments- so we all enjoyed singing and listening to our favorite musical numbers!
What a wonderful day we had here in The Willows! We spent our morning outside in the garden and enjoyed singing lots of songs like "My Bonnie," "Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah," among many others, and talking about different places to travel to. We also exercised with a few stretches to get our bodies moving a little bit. After lunch and a little rest, we went out on the patio and had a great time soaking up some sun and drinking lemonade. Next, Jim Roth came in to play music for us on the keyboard. We listened and danced to lots of polka, musical songs, old-time, and patriotic songs!
Happy Monday! The day began with devotions with Pastor Mari. Residents had a wonderful time singing "O God, Our Help in Ages," "His Eye is on the Sparrow," and "Jesus Loves Me." Then we had a good time with finish the rhymes and songs and Read My List (naming things from category) games. We ended the morning with stretching and flexing our bodies for a little exercise. This afternoon, we enjoyed playing many games of bingo! After that, we learned fun trivia about the Beach Boys, watched a couple videos of them performing, and danced to their music with the ribbons! Before dinner, everyone sang lots of favorite songs like "Que Sera Sera" and "I'm Looking Over a Four Leaf Clover." It was a great day!
Hello and happy Sunday! Our day began with our own private piano concert with Michelle. It was wonderful to have so many families visit today to enjoy her music with their family members. It was quite the packed house. Next we read the weather report from Paul Douglas and enjoyed a few interesting happy articles from the Sunday paper. Sunday lunch was pot roast with mashed potatoes and honey glazed carrots. After lunch and a bit of a rest we watched it rain cats and dogs. One resident stated that along with the cats and dogs it was raining hamsters and turtles too! We agreed that it was great that we enjoyed the beautiful weather yesterday afternoon outside so the flowers and all of our herbs and plants could get a big drink of water today! We played the perfect rainy day game for a crowd- Bingo! Next, we enjoyed a sing a long with classic oldies but goodies! It was a great day!
We had a wonderful Saturday! Our morning started with the weather report and daily happy news. Next, it was stretch and flex. But our favorite time of the morning was ice cream trivia and reminiscing. We spoke about making homemade ice cream and always trying to be the first one to take the dasher out so we could be the first to lick the sweet ice cream! Lunch was a southern treat- chicken in a biscuit with creamy gravy and fresh sweet peas! Our afternoon was spent outside in the garden enjoying the fresh air and we even made popcorn. Popcorn outside is extra fun because we know the squirrels and birds will have a party after we leave with all that I usually get on the ground! Great fun!
Happy Friday! It was a busy and great day today! We learned fun trivia and did games of finish the sayings and songs. Morning exercise was fun with the parachute. Residents had such a great time! After lunch, we all watched a few skits from "The Carol Burnett Show" which definitely gave us all a good laugh! We also enjoyed a couple humorous stories from Reminisce magazine. Everyone laughed at the story with a family that had a pet goat and all the mishaps they had with him. It was also an afternoon full of music with James playing the piano and singing patriotic songs. James played a variety of relaxing songs, including some wedding songs, and upbeat songs everyone could dance to like "Chattanooga Choo Choo." What a wonderful time!
We began the day with humorous animal stories and riddles. So great to start with a good laugh! We exercised by starting with stretches and later with the ribbons. It was a blast listening to that upbeat 50s music while moving with the ribbons! We did trivia about fishing, enjoyed a couple stories, and reminisced. We also did a game of guess the animal after given clues and watched YouTube videos of talking parrots and animals on Johnny Carson. Everyone laughed so much, it was wonderful! This afternoon we all had a good time learning lots of random trivia and then liked hearing stories of peoples wedding day bloopers. Music Safari ended the afternoon. Everyone had a fantastic time listening to a variety of music including big band music and Andrews Sisters songs while playing catch with a ball, playing instruments (shakers and sticks) among other fun things.
