Happy Wednesday and the last day of July! As we all walked down the hall to attend church services this morning, we were having the best time announcing that this was the July 31st parade! Pastor Cheryl Mulberry led our service today and she delivered a beautiful message to us about her missionary work in India. We all also sang a favorite song from childhood, "This Little Light Of Mine"! This afternoon we had a wonderful time playing community Scrabble and card games. Musical Moments was the favorite, Annie! The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow was sung by all the residents! What a wonderful day!
What a beautiful Tuesday is was! We spent almost the entire day outside enjoying the sunshine and each other. With our new umbrellas we really can really enjoy the garden all day! The buzz today was our two new baby cucumbers and a mini pepper- our pumpkin plant has taken up size and we can wait until we see that fruiting! What a joy it has been for the residents!
Happy Monday! Our Monday began with some fun trivia games about food! Fruit and Bread. We had some wonderful conversations and reminiscing about bread boxes, homemade bread fresh from the oven and making apple butter. Next we stretched and flexed to classic 50's music- with a little chair dancing to add to the fun. Next we talked about our favorite sweet treats- a family member told us of her favorite, a chocolate mayonnaise cake! Most of us had never tried this- so we watched a southern living episode on how to make one... it looked delicious and we plan to make one this weekend! Lunch was next and after our rest break we played our favorite game, BINGO! Their were many winners- and many almost winners! We had a great sing a long next- many of our favorites, Sugar in the Morning and Eyes Like Diamonds. It was a great day!
We started our morning by listening a little to a past Hosanna service with Pastor Bill Bohline speaking. Then we sang many hymns together like, "Holy, Holy, Holy," "Just As I Am" and "Jesus Loves Me." Next, we exercised a little with stretches before watching adorable YouTube videos of funny babies with their grandparents. It was a busy afternoon with a sing along, jokes and puns, and finish the sayings. We also had a fantastic time dancing in our chairs and using the parachute while listening to great upbeat 50's music. What a great day!
Happy Saturday! It was such a gorgeous morning so we all just had to get outside and enjoy it! We were busy with lots of singing and games of finish the songs among other games like, name the animal. Our morning wouldn't be complete without stretching our bodies. It was a great time! It was a fun afternoon playing several games of bingo and then enjoying going back outside on the patio. It was a wonderful day!
Happy Friday! We started our day by singing a couple songs like, "Home, Home On the Range." Then we did lots of random trivia about what happened this week in history, learned who had a birthday, among other fun facts. We learned that ten years to the day on the 24th that Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin ended their show at a New York City nightclub so we enjoyed watching videos of them together. Did you also know that it was Lake Superior Day on the 21st? Next, we had a good time stretching and dancing with the ribbons. It was the July birthday party this afternoon! It was a fantastic time listening to a lot of old-time songs by the band, Dragonfly. Great day!
Hello and happy Thursday! Our morning was spent getting some fresh air out on the patio. We started with some stretches which felt good to get moving around a little early in the day. The game, Read My List, was next. Residents named all sorts of things like top vacation spots (Hawaii was said right away), items used at a swimming pool, creatures at the aquarium, and fun things at a carnival and amusement park. After that, we all went back inside and did a finish the sayings and then watched adorable puppy YouTube videos. It was a fantastic afternoon with a root beer float social! What a treat! Music Safari was after that. It was a blast listening to lots of music while playing instruments (shakers and drums), moving and stretching with scarves, using the parachute, and singing a variety of songs together like, "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" and "Amazing Grace." It was a wonderful time had by all!
Happy Tuesday! We all spent the whole morning outside in the garden. It was a wonderful time together relaxing and admiring our beautiful flowers and we were even able to eat some of our tomatoes out in the garden. We also exercised our minds and bodies with stretches and random trivia. It was such a fun afternoon with a popcorn and lemonade social and getting more sunshine and fresh air after that. The busy afternoon continued with keyboard music with Jim Roth! We got to hear a variety of songs including, patriotic songs, old-time songs, songs from musicals, among others. It was a great day!
Happy Monday! It was a great time spending the morning outside on the patio. What a beautiful day! We all enjoyed hearing jokes and funny one-liners and humorous stories from Reminisce magazine. It's so good to begin the day with laughter as well! Then we did a game of coming up with songs related to certain objects (like the flag and train) and then did some trivia and finish the sayings all about fruit. A big group played bingo games in the afternoon. What a good time together! Then we had to get out for more fresh air and sunshine while we sang songs. It was a fantastic day!
It was a wonderful Saturday! Our day began with Sacred Stories. This weeks bible story was Noah's' Ark. The residents enjoyed the beautiful wood carved animals, people and of course, the ark! We also sang, "God Is So Good". Next we read an amazing story about a 97 year old woman that joined the Marines when she was 21, it was very inspiring. The weather in the morning was incredibly rainy- many enjoyed watching the rain fall from out the window before lunch. Lunch was a ham and swiss sandwich, french fries and coleslaw with coconut cream pie for dessert. After lunch and a bit of a rest we all got together for our favorite game, BINGO! It was a great time, many visitors to make the game extra exciting! After that we watched some of the golden buzzer winners from America's Got Talent- the residents favorite was the little girl ventriloquist! She was amazing! After that we played some trivia games and finish that line. A great Saturday!
