It was a wonderful weekend! Saturday morning was filled with fun, laughter, and music and movement! It was a great time! The Bells of the Lakes Handbell concert was in the afternoon! It was such a good performance, everyone loved it! There was even more music on Sunday starting with Gaither Gospel Series: Harmony in the Heartland and then we all listened to beautiful piano music from Michelle. We ended our time with our stretches and flexes. It was a very nice and relaxing morning.
Please enjoy the pictures from the concert yesterday!

Happy Thursday! Our day began with a fun classic TV activity. We watched a couple parts from the episode, "Job Switching," in I Love Lucy. We all had a really good laugh watching Lucy and Ethel at the Chocolate Factory and Ricky and Fred making dinner. Everyone enjoyed eating some chocolates while that scene was playing! It was a nice time talking about the show and reminiscing about what everybody liked to baked. When we talked about our favorite candies, many residents just couldn't decide so they said everything! We also watched videos from The Andy Griffith Show and The Roy Rogers Show. It was great hearing them sing "Happy Trails" together! We all had a good time with our exercises and watching a YouTube video of guilty dogs! It was such a great afternoon with the ice cream social and sing along! Enjoy the pictures!
Happy Wednesday! Ecumenical Worship Services were held in the theatre this morning, hosted by Pastor George. He gave a beutiful sermon about the blessings we receive and that we, in turn, are a blessing to others. After services, our Catholic residents attended Rosary and Communion in the Chapel. Stretch and Flex was next on our list. We streched our bodies and our minds today- with a some brief Current Events, Fruit Trivia and some reminiscing about fall apple picking. Just to think all of this was before lunch! This afternoon, after our rest break, we played our favorite game, BINGO! We had a great time! We did take a very short walk in the garden today, it just was a little too chilly to stay out for longer than 10 minutes. Musical Moments followed and this week we had an old fashioned Sing A Long. Please enjoy the photos of our fun day~ we got a little silly in the first one! ~Melissa Happy Tuesday! It was such a wonderful morning spent with our Kindergarten friends from Primrose School. Everyone had a great time watching and helping them with an owl craft. We all thought it was pretty funny when the kids started saying "tweet tweet," but at least they eventually started making the right sound for the owl! One resident commented, "Can you imagine being a teacher and being with all those kids all day!" After the kids left, we exercised for a bit and watched some adorable YouTube videos. There was music with Jim Roth this afternoon! Everybody had so much fun singing and dancing together to the great music! After that, we did a can you picture this activity. The funny picture led to some great comments and funny remarks! It was a fantastic Tuesday!
~Jessica Happy Monday! Today began with devotions with Pastor Mari. It was another nice time with lots of singing and a wonderful message. Our exercises were next with stretches and the very fun balloon toss game! Before lunch, we watched a Carol Burnett Show sketch. That show is so enjoyable and funny! This afternoon, we spent some time with a trivia game and then saw Diane and Tolstoy! Tolstoy was very funny today! The residents all laughed so much when he would not jump over the tunnel and just sat there for me but jumped for Diane. Everyone also enjoyed another good competition between me and Diane with getting Tolstoy to jump and catch a treat, which went much better! Diane had Tolstoy do a new puzzle that he really liked and he kept on wanting to play it, it was pretty cute. It was a great time! ~Jessica
It was a beautiful weekend here at The Fountains! Although, it did not feel at all like late September in Minnesota! Its been very hot! We did get to enjoy the garden on Saturday morning and soak up a little sunshine before it got too hot. Our Saturday was filled with our favorites, Stretch and Flex, Bingo, Friends and some yummy chocolate. Sunday was a hot one too- so we watched church services from the television and some of the residents had a little spa day by getting their nails done. Happy day!
~Melissa Happy Friday! The day started off with watching I Love Lucy, so there was lots of laughter this morning that's for sure! We also had a great group that enjoyed a picnic lunch and boat ride down the Mississippi River today! It was an interesting tour and we all loved seeing all the beauty on the river. Please check out our facebook page to see pictures! This afternoon, some residents worked on a picture detective activity all related to Grandparents Day! It was a fantastic Friday!
~Jessica Happy Thursday! Today began with the word game, What's Next? We especially had lots of fun finishing the musical lyrics and singing! Next was our morning stretches and beach ball volleyball game. What a great time with lots of laughter! Bingo was this afternoon. It was an enjoyable time playing several games and almost everyone won! Music Safari was the last activity today. Jennifer talked about Julie Andrews. We all learned about some new fascinating trivia and they watched YouTube videos of some of her songs in Mary Poppins and The Sound of Music. They ended by listening to another song from The Sound of Music while playing a balloon game with swim noodles. That time was very much enjoyed since we're all big fans of Julie Andrews!
~Jessica Happy Wednesday! Our day began with Ecumenical Worship Services in the theatre this morning, and boy, did we have a full house. Pastor Dean was our guest speaker today and his sermon was absolutly fabulous! After our all house service a full Catholic Mass, a thank you to All Saints Catholic Church, was held in the Chapel. Before lunch we had just enough time for some Current Events and Trivia. After lunch and a rest break we all gathered back in the dining room for a ladies Tea Party. It was wonderful. Please enjoy the photos. ~Melissa Happy Tuesday! It was a great day here at The Willows! Our day began with some very funny stories. One included a story about a young girl describing her mother making homemade ketchup and because she put too much sugar in it- it popped the corks and there was ketchup on the ceiling, floors and countertops- everywhere! We all laughted and one resident told us her own story of the exact same thing happening to her mother. They were sitting in the living room when they heard "pops" coming from the basement- it was the ketchup bottles exploding! Can you imagine! Next we stretched and flexed with a full body seated exercise routine.. Trivia was next on our list- everyone did so well on the "finish the line" musical lyrics we segwayed into a sing a long! " My Wild Irish Rose', "Take Me Out to the Ballgame", just to name a few- what beautiful singers we have here! After lunch, they had ham salad on marbled rye bread in case you were wondering, we took a stroll in the garden. We reminisced about autumn and our favorite parts of fall and even spoke a little bit about what flowers to plant next summer! We ejoyed a few games of BINGO with some ice cold Lemonade... it certainly did not feel like September today. Colorful Reguards, Melissa |
