Happy Saturday! Today was filled with fun! Polka music to our morning stretch and flex and we continued the German theme to a tutorial of the Polka Hop! Some of the residents tried it- mostly those who were clapping along were laughing with us as we tried to get the beat down! Its a little trickier than the Polka dance most of us know. We also did a little arm chair travel to Germany which sparked a few conversations about residents travels to the country! Our afternoon was filled with Bingo games and sing a longs. Enjoy the photos! ~ Also be sure to read the special announcement after the photos when you scroll down. Thank you! An announcement for our Catholic Residents and families to place in your calendars...
On November 21, Fr. Chad VanHoose, our associate pastor from All Saints Catholic Church will have Mass with Anointing of the Sick at the Fountains. Here is a brief description of the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick: The Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick is one of the seven Sacraments of the Church. Any member of the Catholic faithful who is in danger of death, becomes seriously ill, is injured, or is suffering from a decline due to advanced age is encouraged to receive this Sacrament. One need not be at the point of death. For example, one ought to request this Sacrament before undergoing serious surgery or any procedure where there may be some risk either because of advanced age or because of the invasiveness of the procedure. The Sacrament can be repeated, even during the same illness, when the illness is prolonged or when it becomes more serious. Thank you. Please contact an activities staff member or Pastor Mari Strong with any questions.

Happy happy Friday! The day began with The Daily Chronicle. We learned about some interesting historical events (like on the 24th in 1952, KFC opened in Salt Lake City), trivia, and found out who would have had a birthday this week (like Ed Sullivan). After that, we stretched and flexed before a short game of balloon toss. Before lunch, we all enjoyed watching a video about Switzerland and got to see all the beautiful scenery there. Then we all enjoyed watching more YouTube videos of funny kids. This afternoon was the September birthday party! We had a great time together listening to the piano player performance and eating the delicious cake! There was even more music after that with James piano playing and a sing along after that. It was a wonderful afternoon full of music!
Happy Thursday! We started the day with funny true stories from the Reminisce magazine which everyone enjoyed. After that, we stretched before a fun beach ball toss game. The morning ended with YouTube videos of babies, kids, and animals. They always put a smile on all our faces and also give us a good laugh hearing what some children had to say! This afternoon, we reminisced all about apples...picking apples and apple orchards, baking, and we also finished "apple" sayings. Fall is one of the best times of the year! Then we had Music Safari with Jennifer. We all listened to polka music today while they stretched, played drums, and used the parachute with the balloon. It was such a great time!
Happy Monday! It was a lovely morning at devotions with Pastor Mari. They all sang the hymns, "Standing on the Promises," "O How I Love Jesus" and "Jesus Loves Me," listened to her message and prayer, and said many Amen's together. After that we all enjoyed some jokes and stories. The residents especially laughed to this..."Daddy, how much does it cost to get married?" Father replied, "I don't know son, I'm still paying." Then we stretched and flexed before a short balloon toss game. We ended the morning with funny animal videos. We all played several bingo games this afternoon. Diane and Tolstoy also came in for a visit. He went through and jumped over the tunnel, played his piano, among other fun tricks. It was extra funny for us watching him misbehaving at times and doing the opposite of what he was told. It was a great time!
Happy first day of fall! We started the day by singing many of our favorite hymns with Susie Q (on YouTube). Then we all enjoyed some nice autumn poems and reminisced about the things to do during the season and where to go in our great state to enjoy it. The morning ended with a few stretches before we went off to lunch. This afternoon, some residents watched the Vikings game while others helped to bake strawberry cupcakes. The cupcakes were a good treat! We also had a wonderful time outside before dinner.
It was a very nice Saturday here in The Willows. We started with a few funny stories of kids saying hilarious things. Then we stretched and flexed our bodies along to relaxing music in the background. We ended the morning with very funny videos of Johnny Carson with animals. The talking/singing parrot was one of the favorites. Bingo was this afternoon. Everybody had a blast! Then we went outside to get some fresh air and sunshine and sing together. We were all so happy that it turned out to be a beautiful day!
Happy Friday! The day began with our Daily Chronicle. We learned all sorts of trivia (like Babe Ruth wearing a cabbage leaf under his cap to keep him cool), historical events, and who would have had a birthday this week (like Greta Garbo). Then we exercised with some stretches. We ended the morning with travel videos to a couple cities in Europe, Berlin and Amsterdam and other videos of kids saying funny things. This afternoon, we did Mind Joggers which included What Worker Says...?, defined slang terms (like shenanigans), and questions and trivia all about September. Then we enjoyed singing a lot of old-time songs and hymns together, like "He's Got The Whole World in His Hands," "My Wild Irish Rose," and "Zip A Dee Doo Dah." It was a great day!
Happy Thursday! The morning started with some funny true stories and fall jokes. Then we all woke up a little more with stretches and flexes and ball toss. We also reminisced about all the fun fall things to do. Everyone agreed that one of the best parts of autumn is seeing the beautiful trees. Lastly, we enjoyed a few YouTube videos of adorable puppies and kittens and some with babies. There were many "awwws" that's for sure. This afternoon, we all had lots of good laughs with hilarious news bloopers, including some headlines and from the classified section. One classified ad they liked was, "Free Puppies: One-half cocker spaniel/one-half sneaky neighbor's dog." We also watched some videos of news bloopers that were very funny as well. After that, we had Music Safari with Jennifer. They were very active today with stretches, dancing with the hula hoop, and balloon toss to great up beat music like the Beach Boys. It was a wonderful time!
