Happy Halloween! What a fun filled day! First, the kids from Primrose School came to trick or treat. Residents loved seeing them in their costumes and they all looked so cute! There were so many smiles! We had a good time at the Halloween party seeing all the different costumes everyone wore and doing Halloween trivia and puzzles. Then we enjoyed Music Safari by listening to Halloween music and playing instruments. Here are some pictures from Music Safari... It was a wonderful day today here at The Willows! Our day began with a very special service: A Time of Remembrance & Worship. Kath Martin filled the chapel with beautiful piano music and Pastor Bill Bohline was our guest Pastor. It was wonderful to have this time with all of our Fountains family to thank God for our dear friends that have passed on. Our Catholic residents met in the Fountains chapel next to say Rosary. Just before lunch we had some time for the daily report and a fun Halloween dance! After lunch it was Autumn crafting fun and some hoppin' music- Glen Miller fit the bill! We all cant wait for Halloween tomorrow, the preschool kids from Primrose will be parading in costume for us! What a treat!
Happy Tuesday! We started our day off with the weather report, reminisced about Halloween, and did a game of finish the sayings. It was also such a fun time exercising with the parachute and beach ball to Halloween music like...
"Monster Mash" and "Ghostbusters." It was a fun afternoon at the popcorn party! We enjoyed the treat while we watched a video of a two year make "spooky popcorn," funny videos of kids during Halloween, and "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown." After that, was our what's next game. Then we learned fun trivia about Shirley Temple and watched videos of some scenes and dances from her movies. What a wonderful day!
Happy Monday! Our day began with devotions with Pastor Mari. She led us all in singing "Great is Thy Faithfulness" and "Jesus Loves Me" and had a nice message for us. It was wonderful! Then we exercised our minds and bodies with stretches and the balloon toss and finish the proverbs and sayings. The morning ended with YouTube videos of dogs and babies in their Halloween costumes. It was way too cute! Bingo games were this afternoon. It was a good time playing and winning lots of chocolate! After that, we enjoyed a game of finish the lyrics. We sang so many songs like, "I've Been Working on the Railroad" and "Daisy Bell." It was a great day!
Happy Friday! It was a great start to the day with a visit from mothers and their children all dressed up in their Halloween costumes. They were so nice to give everyone a card and treat bag. The kids gave everybody big smiles! Next was exercise with music and movement with the balloon and words games. It was the October birthday party this afternoon! Beachcomber Bob came to perform 50's music. It was a fantastic time! After the party, we all listened to James play piano music for us. What a fun afternoon with lots of music!
Happy Thursday! It was a busy and wonderful day filled with singing, music and movement, and enjoying a sweet treat while watching swing dancing videos!
Happy Wednesday! Our day began with Ecumenical Worship Service and one of our favorite pastors, George Gilmour was here to deliver a beautiful message of love and tolerance to all of us today. We sang lovely hymns, "Take Time to be Holy" and "My Hope is Built" and I do have to say, it sounded beautiful! Next, our Catholic residents gathered in the chapel for Rosary. Lunch today was a pork with peach salsa sandwhich with cous cous and chips. After a break and some individual visits we all gathered again for some game time with coffee and cookies. Musical Moments followed with a stellar concert video from Huge Jackman! We hope your day was as much fun as ours. :)
Happy Tuesday! It was Octoberfest here in the Willows today! Lots of fun German music and polka dancing! Our day began with the local good news and weather, followed by Stretch and Flex to some great polka music! Next we had an Arm Chair Travel series on Germany. It was wonderful to hear some of the residents tell of their travels. One of the best chats was that of German food... weinersnitzel, sausages, pretzels and beer! The residents had a great time! For lunch we enjoyed Fish and Chips (Not German, but England is close by at least) and cole slaw and a rice crispy treat. After lunch we all enjoyed a popcorn party with classic movie clips and our star of the day was last, but not least- Jim Roth! He is truly the Polka King of the Twin Cities and the residents adore his live music and funny stories in between! To make it a true accordion event we even danced with bubbles for the true "Laurence Welk" experience! It was a great day!

Her message was about "our Lord is our source of living water"..."I've got peace like a river, I've got joy like a fountain, and I've got love like an ocean." Residents also sang "Jesus Loves Me" together. After that, we exercised our minds and bodies with stretches and the balloon toss and finish the sayings and nursery rhymes. It was a good time! This afternoon, it was a good time had by all playing bingo together. The day ended with a sing along. We sang many different songs including, "King of the Road," "She'll Be Comin' Round the Mountain," and "This Land is Your Land." It was a wonderful day!
Happy Sunday! It was a wonderful morning that began with listening to and singing hymns including, "How Great Thou Art" and "Fairest Lord Jesus." Then we exercised with the beach ball for a little bit to polka music in the background. We all also enjoyed a few funny stories of kids in church. This afternoon, residents watched the Vikings game while a small group worked on a craft together. Then we all had a nice time outside enjoying the gorgeous day and reminiscing about fall and singing old-time songs. It was a great day!
