Happy Saturday! We had a great start to the day singing and listening to Christmas carols! Then we had a good time exercising by starting with stretches and after tossing the balloon to each other. Next, we enjoyed our word games of finish the quotes, proverbs, sayings and songs. It was a fun afternoon playing bingo together! There were many winners! After that, we watched a Christmas concert on YouTube of a wonderful choir and band. It was very nice day!
Happy Friday! Hoping you all had a very happy Thanksgiving! We received a touch of fresh snow this morning so it is truly getting us all excited for the holidays! Our morning began with a recap of the daily news and weather forecast from Paul Douglas. Stretch and Flex exercise class was great to our favorite Polka tunes- and we all needed a bit of energy to get moving with all the family visits and food from yesterday. Our daily pick me up was a hoot watching babies laughing! It was contagious and soon the entire room was laughing along! Lunch today was a chicken salad with bacon and goat cheese with oranges. Coconut cake for dessert! Yumm! After lunch and a bit of a rest we all gathered for a bit of coffee and hot chocolate to take down our fall decor and start putting up Christmas! After our festive afternoon we sang a few carols to kick off the season! It was a great day!
Happy Wednesday! Our day began with a lovely surprise... over 10 inches of beautiful fluffy snow. It made our walk to the Chapel eventful as we all just had to peek out of the windows to see it! Our guest pastor today was Pastor George Gilmore and we all were gifted with a beautiful, soul filling and always humerus sermon! Our Catholic residents gathered in our Fountains chapel for Rosary and Communion next. Lunch was an amazing triple grilled cheese sandwich with a tomato mozzarella salad and Butterscotch cake for dessert- yumm! This certainly was not our first talk about food... our entire afternoon was reminiscing about all of our favorite thanksgiving dishes and pies! It was wonderful! Happy Tuesday! Our day here in the Willows began with the weather report. Residents weren't too happy to hear about all the snow coming. Then we enjoyed a game of finish the quotes and sayings. Before lunch, we exercised by starting with stretches and then had fun tossing the beach ball and balloon. It was a wonderful afternoon enjoying a sweet treat of donuts and ice cream and watching scenes of songs from old musicals. Then Jim Roth came in to play music on the keyboard for us. We had a good time singing our favorites like, "Do, Re, Mi" and "You Are My Sunshine" and listening to many other songs. It was a great day!
Happy Monday! We started our day with devotions with Pastor Mari. It was a lovely time singing "Doxology," "Amazing Grace," and "Jesus Loves Me." Next, we stretched and flexed our bodies before moving and dancing with the ribbons to polka music. Then we sang a few songs before watching an adorable YouTube video of a two-year old cooking. It was a great afternoon playing together! We had lots of winners! The afternoon ended with a little snack and a sing along. It was great to hear everyone singing their hearts out!
Happy Friday! It was a great day that began with music and movement. We had a fun time exercising with the parachute and listening to polka music which was requested. Then we did word games of finish the children's rhymes and songs. It was nice singing together for a bit. Before lunch, we watched a video of a three-year old making donuts. Residents thought it was very cute but boy he was messy! Our afternoon was spent at the birthday party! We enjoyed piano music from Nate Hance. It was great music and everyone especially liked when he played on the floor, upside down! So amazing! The cake of course was a good treat! One resident pointed at her cake and said "that's a beautiful thing!" There was more piano music next with James! What a wonderful day!
Happy Thursday! It was a good start to the day with Tai Chi exercise class. It felt good to wake up our muscles and to do some deep breathing exercises. Then it was time for lunch. After a rest break, we enjoyed getting together for lemonade and cookies and chatting. We reminisced about Thanksgiving...mainly about cooking and eating! One resident shared that she made minced meat pie every year. We also enjoyed a humorous story, "A Wild Turkey Tale" that gave us all a good laugh. The day ended with finish the lyrics. It was a good time singing all sorts of songs like, "Oh Susanna," "She'll Be Coming Around the Mountain," "Daisy Bell" and many others. It was a great day!
The morning started with some coloring. The pictures turned out fantastic! Stephanie came in teaching everyone some Tai-Chi to get our muscles moving, relaxed, and incorporated deep breathing exercises. Lunch today was fish. After lunch, the group came back together and listened to some jokes through funny sayings on mugs and we enjoyed our afternoon with some coffee, juice, and cookies! Yum! Then we listened to some music with songs like "you are my sunshine" and "Somewhere over the rainbow". It was a great day-everyone was in a great mood!
Happy Monday! Our day began with devotions with Pastor Mari. We enjoyed singing "Holy, Holy, Holy" and "Jesus Loves Me" and hearing a nice message from her. After that we stretched our bodies and moved and danced with the ribbons. It was a great time! Then we enjoyed a few humorous turkey jokes and one liners. Here's one of them..."What is the difference between a chicken and a turkey? Chickens celebrate Thanksgiving!" It was a fun time playing games of bingo together after lunch! We ended the day by watching scenes from musicals like "The Wizard of OZ," "My Fair Lady," and "By the Light of the Silvery Moon." It was a wonderful day!
It was a wonderful weekend! We enjoyed listening to and singing many songs (hymns and old-time songs) and had a fun time exercising with the ribbons and the balloon. We also enjoyed watching YouTube videos of dancers...German folk dancing, swing dancing, etc.. We had a good time with a few word games of finish the sayings and songs. Saturday afternoon was spent playing bingo. Residents were so happy when they won that chocolate prize! Sunday afternoon was spent watching the Vikings game. Other residents worked on a United States puzzle together while we reminisced about traveling and looked at pictures of Hawaii. What a busy weekend!
