It was a busy and fun couple days here! We enjoyed singing lots of Christmas carols together including "Jingle Bells," "Deck the Halls," and "Silent Night." Exercise has also been keeping us busy...we had a great Tai Chi class today! On Monday, we had a wonderful time listening to caroling from the Oak Hills Elementary School Student Council. Residents enjoyed visiting with the kids after. It was a very nice time together today having an afternoon treat of cookies and coffee while we visited and reminisced. Jim Roth came in after to play music for us. We enjoyed a variety of music including Christmas carols and sing along songs like "You Are My Sunshine" and singing and dancing! What a wonderful time!
It was a wonderful weekend here at the Fountains! Our Saturday began with the weekend report, weather and stretch and flex! Stretch and Flex has really become a favorite morning activity. We always put on some hoppin' music (today was Polka!) and incorporate gentle stretching movements to music and even add a few Tai Chi moves we've learned from our Tuesday/ Thursday class! After lunch we gathered in the family room again for some super corny Christmas jokes and some great Christmas stories. We also had a piano recital from the Ruth Davis school of music perform in the Bistro- the residents really enjoyed that!
Sunday began in a more relaxing manner with Michelle gracing us with a beautiful piano concert right here in the Willows. It was wonderful. Next we enjoyed some gospel music that took us right into lunch! After lunch we watched a bit of the Vikings play (we have quite a few die hard Vikings fans here in the Willows!). Its so fun to hear them cheer on their favorite team. We had a surprise in the afternoon, a volunteer stopped by to play piano for us, his name is Ben and a very talented jazz musician- the music was fun and upbeat- what a treat! We sure did have a fun day and a great weekend!
It was a good start to the day with our Tai Chi exercise class. The deep breathing and movements made us all feel better and relaxed. After lunch and a little rest, we enjoyed watching and listening to a choir and orchestra Christmas concert on YouTube. We also enjoyed an afternoon treat of cookies during that. Lastly, it was Music Safari! Everyone had a wonderful time singing many Christmas carols together like, "The First Noel," "Joy to the World," and "Jingle Bells." Residents sang their hearts out. It was so great!
