What a busy morning we had! The preschool children were here from Hosanna! this morning. A few residents came down to see them and help with a scarecrow craft. They were so helpful! It was quite a busy and fun time with them. The kids were so cute and the residents loved hearing their sweet giggles. They put a lot of smiles on everyone’s faces. When we were back, we did some stretches to loosen up those muscles. Then Chaplain Mari came in for devotions. She read scripture from Philippians 4:6-7: “Do not worry about anything, but in everything, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” After reading, she led them in some deep breaths-“breath in your hopes and God’s peace and love, and breathe out any fears and concerns.” She also sang two hymns with them, “Holy, Holy, Holy” and “All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name.” After devotions, we continued our activities with the balloon volleyball game. What a game! Competition was fierce but they still rooted one another on. They did a marvelous job keeping the balloon moving! One resident didn’t hit it very far and said, “so much for that one!” Everyone burst out laughing! We were all tired out so we watched a few YouTube videos to keep us smiling more.
This afternoon we baked good sugar cookies. It always smells so good when anything is in the oven. One of the residents smelt the cookies and asked, “where are the cookies?” She was pretty excited to have one. After cleaning up, and eating, we did a couple word games. We started with a fill in the blank famous singers game. They are music experts! Then we made a list of everything we think of related to fall. Everyone participated and came up with a bunch of things! It was a great day! ~Jessica
