Saturday greetings! We began our morning with some classic poetry, in Poetry Corner. Many of the residents knew many and even finished off several stanzas! The poetry included Longfellow with The Arrow and The Song, Stevensons’, My Shadow and The Owl and The Pussycat by Lear. Next, we stretched and flexed with a little exercise to the beat of Big Band legend, Glen Miller. We had a surprise visit from Tolstoy the Husky dog. He came into the room “singing”to the music. We all got such a kick out of it and he even agreed to play his little toy piano for us for a bit! He is such a sweet, loving dog and the residents enjoyed giving him a pet and trying to get him to “sit” and other dogie tricks. Our Trivia/ Reminisce group focused on all things Autumn, including apples. We have many former bakers in the bunch- so talk quickly moved to our favorite apple dishes. One resident even shared how she would make homemade apple sauce from the apples on her tree at her family home. This afternoon we enjoyed a game of BINGO in the main lobby. This classic game is such a favorite and it is always fun to hear the oohs and awes when someone wins and hollers, “BINGO!”.
Sincerely, Melissa
